I switched jobs in January and then subsquently got the flu. My new insurance card had not arrived in time for my doctor’s visit, but I had a temperature of 101. So, I went to the doctor anyway. The receptionist told me that I would have to leave or reschedule my appointment. Is that how people without insurance are treated?

Many times. I found cash took care of the issue fine.
When I was younger and didn’t have my own insurance, I was turned away from some Dr. offices or I was told i’d have to pay something ‘up front’.
I have insurance now and good insurance at that. Horrible how those without it are treated. I feel even worse for parents with kids who don’t have insurance. How anyone can turn away a sick kid….
Learn spanish and get a fake mexican ID then just go the the ER and put all information off your fake ID.
I went to the doctor without insurance or money, and they told me they couldn’t see me just because I couldn’t pay!!
What kind of country denies healthcare just because you can’t pay? It’s ridiculous. That’s why I’m voting Obama. I dont care about his terrorist ties. I would rather have a President that is friends with terrorists than a President that is against Universal Healthcare! Which is more dangerous? A terrorist or lack of healthcare? Exactly.
Nope until we got married last month my wife was an uninsured student for four years… she had no problem getting into the doctor or getting anything she needed…. but she did pay for a major medical plan that was only about $20-30/month that would cover major medical
pretty much….
However, if you had insurance and had not recieved your card yet, she should have been able to call your insurance company to verify coverage, she should have allowed you to see the doctor and sent you a bill, however, I have noticed my Dr. office now asks for my CO-PAY upfront, apparently alot of people are bailing out without paying the Co-Pay after they see the Dr.
Yes
And if you go to the ER, we are instructed to give you minimal care and get you out ASAP!
No Insurance card. You better have cash. No checks, No credit card, just CASH!
It happens at the Doctors Office, Dentist, Hospital, all the time for me. Sad thing is, they know me and I pay my bills on time.
That is exactly how it works. That is why Patient First and places of that nature make a killing…and they really don’t do anything but give you a pill and tell you to go to your primary physician.
Hmmm…. this sounds like a lefty plant
How would you like to live in a country with universal health care where you had to wait a month to get seen by a doctor?
I would find a diffrent doc. I have went before the cards show up they just billed me an I gave the bill to insurance.
Nope
I walked in told them I was paying cash and was seen in the usual time
About an hour after my appointment time
Once I went to the walk in clinic was seen in about ten minutes
One time I had strep throat but had to work any way and had no time to make a Dr appointment
I made my first job the county health clinic and was treated and charged according to my income, also took about an hour and was back to work
My niece, the welfare queen, just goes to the emergency room
They can not turn you away
They also do not give minimal care
She has been given tests my insurance would never authorize for a headache
There is no such thing as having health care unavailable to you in America
You just go to the emergency room like every illegal alien does and wait and be treated. In fact hospitals are FORBIDDEN to refuse treatment to anyone in an emergency situation. Every major city in the USA has a hospital that serves — DEADBEATS.
Yes, many times! I currently have no health insurance. When I go to the doctor, (general practitioner, or dermatologist for my psoriasis) I simply pay with credit or debit card. Cash or check is also acceptable but who uses these forms of payment anymore? Often they will give me a discount for not having insurance. (Less paper work) Pay for your services and there will be no problem. In fact if I have no major illness I come out better financially without insurance. I recomend having insuarance though.
